When life trials and tests come, some people might say, but I believe in Jesus, I gave my life to the Lord long ago, how then can a good God make me go through all these? There was a friend who went through a lot of trouble. She believed her walk with God was intact. She wondered why the Lord allowed her to encounter the hardships. Sometimes, God shakes us and orchestrate events in our lives. It's all part of God’s grand plan.
There was a story in the Scriptures. A man was blind from birth. We hear of the same stories today when people are born with some types of disability. When science cannot trace it to any cause. When parents have lived their lives right and there is no indication of any form of spiritual attack or curses. This was the story of the man in John 9:1-4.
“Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth, And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”. Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of god should be revealed in him”. John 9:6
This man was born blind. His economic situation had been affected and He resorted to begging for survival. His parents could no longer support him. He was at the mercies of others. Individuals who have no understanding of God’s purpose for his life might have said to him, “God has no love for you. You are not a true believer and that’s why you’re going through what you’re going through”. When it’s the other way round. God took interest in his life and decided to use it for His glory in a special way.
The disciples began to wonder what caused the man’s trials. They began to think of his past or the past of his parents as a possible cause. But Jesus said Noooo! You’re wrong. They’ve been completely free of sin. His trials are just to show forth the wonders of God. Jesus began to speak into the future of the man. People who have no clue call others by the behaviors of the past when God has better plans.
“When He had said these things, He sat on the ground and made clay with saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with clay. And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam”. So he went and washed, and came back seeing.”
Then the unexpected happened. The Lord anointed the man with clay, and he was sent to wash, and he saw. All through the scriptures, a lot was said about anointing with the oil, but we never read about anointing with the clay until John 9. This is a classic case of how unpredictable the power of God is. For a situation as rare as that of a man born blind from birth, because of a unique reason: to show forth His glory; to a unique solution: the clay anointing. The Lord is indeed a creative Solution Provider, who is able to bring healing and glorify His name through any means that He desires.
May I encourage you to arise, stop wallowing in the pool of self-pity or accusations from your past failures. It is my prayer that your life will catch the Lord’s attention and you will receive divinesolution in the name of Jesus.
