Meditation and Worship
Without meditation, the believer is unable to get into worship. What do we meditate on? We meditate on the word of God. The word of God reveals who God is, His ways, His laws, what He has done, what He will do, what He delights in, what He abhors and His plans for us.
What is meditation?
Meditation is the passage through which the spirit of God in God’s word flows from our soul to our spirit for the purpose of spiritual growth. Meditation is a process of implanting of the word of God into your spirit. Meditation is spiritually feeding on the the word of God.
The human mind constantly engages in meditation whether we know it or not. You may meditate on your day, on your relationship with your friend or loved ones. One of the tihngs that make a significant difference in the lives of innovators is the ability to medidate on subjects of interest. When we meditate on the word of God, our minds receive a deeper opening into realms of wisdom. Without meditation on the word of God, there is no knowledge of the glory of the Lord.
Through meditation on the word of God, the word of God becomes the basis of your thought. In meditation, the word of God is cultivated in you. As a seed, when the word grows, it becomes like a fruitful tree played by the rivers and that is why the Scripture says out of your belly shall flow rivers of living water,
Spiritual Malnourishment is a state where we are not getting the right nutrient to grow spiritually or living life according to God’s plan. A spiritually malnourished person is a candidate for spiritual infirmities and attacks. - (Psalm 107:20 He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave).
Spiritual malnourishment occurses when there is the lack of the consumption of spriitual food which is the word of God. 1 Peter 2:2 says - Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation. Without the right nutrition, a baby cannot grow. A new born baby would be starved and get sick or even die without the right without the right and balanced nutrition.
It is the same for a newborn believer in Christ. The same for a person who backslides. The spirit of God in such people become hungry and thirsty; if the spirit is not revived on time through the word of God, spiritual death occurs.
A spiritually malnourished person cannot worship the Lord in truth and in spirit. The Lord told the Israelites in the book of Leviticus -" fire from other sources are not allowed to be used in worship". The children of Aaron were consumed when they used the foreign recipe for strange fire and offered worship unto YHWH. The recipe used in worship at the time will be an equivalent to the word oof God in this times. The Lord said to Jeremiah, "Does not the word of God burn as fire"? If therefore the word of God is fire, then the only fire that is permitted to ignite worship is the fire of the word of God. If you dont have the word of God in your heart, then your heart is occupied with something else. It cannot be empty. Either worries, anxieties and cares of this world, jealousy, envy, hate --- you can never never worship with a heart that carries a strange fire.
An individual might be spiritually malnourished if ...
